In January 2012, an information meeting concerning the European Directive on appliances burning gaseous fuels (2009/142/EC) took place at the Engineering Test Institute in Brno.

Based on the outcome of the open competition launched by the Ministry of Trade, Mr. Tomas Hruska was appointed a new Director of SZÚ (aka Engineering Test Institute) on 16 January 2012. Tomas Hruska graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Brno University of Technology. In the years 1991 - 2007, he worked in SZÚ in various positions within the Heat and Environment-Friendly Equipment Test Station. From 2008 to 2011, he held the post of the Regulatory and Safety Manager in the Bobcat Doosan Engineering company.
