LVD - electric safety
LVD (The Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU) which mandates that electrical and electrical equipment within certain voltage limits eliminates health and safety risks. Specifically, it is a device operating with an input or output voltage between:
- 50-1000 V AC
- 75-1500 V DC
The Directive covers a wide range of products for both professional and home use.¨
WHAT IS TESTED:
- Within the scope of LVD, the Engineering Test Institute offers the measurement of:
- Electrical parts of manufacturing machines
- Electrical parts of heating equipment
- Electrical parts of automation equipment and elements
- Electrical laboratory, scientific and optical instruments
- Selected electrical appliances for household and similar use
- Office equipment and data processing equipment
- Medical devices, including electrical instruments and equipment
- Vibration tests
- Tests of proximity safety devices in machines with straight-line working movement
- Tests of ingress protection of electrical equipment
- Electrical welding sources
- Calculations of the safety integrity level (SIL)
- Other electrical engineering installations
WHAT IS ASSESSED:
- Basic tests - leakage currents, continuity of protective circuits, IP xx ingress protection, protection against contact with live parts, etc.
- Technical documentation (operating and maintenance instructions, electrical wiring diagrams)
MOST FREQUENT PROBLEMS:
- Shortcomings in the technical documentation
- Accessible live parts - insufficient insulation, IP xx ingress protection ...
