An Evening with the State Testing Authority

An Evening with State Testing, attended by the management of the Engineering Test Institute (SZÚ), showcased the importance of state testing and its role within the European system for ensuring product safety, quality, and consumer protection.

At the Slovanský dům in Prague, the first edition of An Evening with State Testing took place on November 27. The event, held in a very pleasant atmosphere, highlighted the importance of state testing as a key pillar of the European system for ensuring product safety, quality, and consumer protection.

The evening brought together representatives of public administration, professional institutions, and industrial partners, demonstrating that even highly technical topics can be presented in a modern, attractive, and accessible way. The program was elegantly and expertly hosted by Daniela Brzobohatá.

The ceremonial opening featured greetings from distinguished guests — Vladimír Mana, State Secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic; Jan Wiesner, Honorary President of the Confederation of Employer and Business Associations; Jiří Kratochvíl, Chairman of the Office for Technical Standardization, Metrology and State Testing (also speaking on behalf of Zdeněk Veselý, Director General of the Czech Agency for Standardization); Jiří Růžička, Director of the Czech Accreditation Institute; and Pavel Malčík, President of the Association of Accredited and Authorized Organizations. Their speeches clearly expressed a shared commitment to strengthening and supporting a system that ensures only safe, high-quality, and reliable products meeting legal and technical requirements enter the EU internal market.

After the opening ceremony, guests enjoyed a musical performance by Ellaboration – Dasha & Epoque Quartet, creating an exclusive atmosphere for the evening. The program continued with an open dialogue featuring experts from six testing institutes, who offered a behind-the-scenes look at product testing — from protective equipment to electrical devices and large-scale fire tests. Their insights provided a fascinating perspective on how the everyday certainties consumers rely on are created.

The evening also served as a valuable opportunity for sharing experiences and building new partnerships. Informal networking was complemented by a performance from magician Richard Nedvěd, adding a social touch to the event.

Feedback from guests and partners confirmed that the first edition was an outstanding success. Its modern concept, engaging program, and unique combination of technical content with cultural experience laid a strong foundation for further development of this platform. Organizers announced that An Evening with State Testing will continue in 2026 and become a regular meeting point for all those involved in ensuring product safety and quality on the EU internal market — and in protecting users and consumers.
