Certification and testing of helmets - resistance and strength tests
Helmets can be divided into industrial and sports helmets. Industrial protective helmets are used to protect the user's head mainly from falling objects. Sports helmets serve to protect the user's head when performing various types of sporting activities.
What is tested:
- weight measurement, visual field and protected area
- impact resistance
- impact and breakdown resistance
- the strength and efficiency of the headband attachment
- buoyancy resistance
- measurement of clearances, heights and other distances
- resistance of chin strap fastening
- flame resistance
- resistance to lateral deformation
What is assessed:
- accompanying documentation (drawings, etc.)
- manual
- marking (mandatory data marked on the helmet)
Most frequent problems:
- cracked buckle
- exceeding the maximum permissible value in the impact resistance test
- touch the test tip with the headform
