60 years with the masters of testing: Šárka Šotlíková

Our receptionist, Šárka Šotlíková, is one of the faces we see every day at SZÚ. And we are very happy about that! She is smiling, helpful, and caring—not only for visitors, but also for the plants, atmosphere, and well-being of our company. As part of the series "60 Years with the Masters of Testing," we talked to her about her work, her love of nature, and what keeps her going in life.

What do you enjoy most about working as a receptionist?

I just enjoy it, I like it here. I like the people at work, my colleagues, the customers. Some of them have become friends. Many customers have been coming to us for years, so we know each other. Among other things, I know what kind of coffee they like, which is usually how their visit to the reception starts.

How do you spend your vacations?

I prefer to spend my vacations or any time off at home with my children, my mother, and my husband, if he's not being grumpy... :) Mainly, I don't want to pack suitcases, travel, or rush.

For how long have you been working at SZÚ?

It will be six years this year. I started here after a difficult period at work, and I consider this job a reward. I appreciate it.

You are known for providing first aid to some of us for the flowers we have in our offices. At the same time, you take care of the front garden at SZÚ and our green connecting corridor between the buildings. What do you enjoy about it?

I enjoy everything about growing, sowing, planting, propagating, and caring for plants of all kinds. Everything we need to live grows from the soil, whether we realize it or not, so I do it here too, with the help of Tomáš and Radek. Thank you, guys.

What recharges your batteries the most?

Being at home, not having to get up to an alarm clock, having a quiet breakfast with my family, and working in the garden.

What does your job as a receptionist involve?

Taking care of incoming customers or other visitors, registering them, handing them over to the person responsible, displaying visits on the monitor, which they like and take pictures of. I record and issue keys to colleagues, process incoming and outgoing mail, sometimes arrange for the transport of non-standard shipments, order lunches when the girls from the kitchen are off, and deal with various requests that come in.

What helps you when you're having a bad day?

Quickly realizing that I have lively and healthy children makes every problem seem smaller.

Šári, thank you for the interview!
